Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Everyone!
The trip back from Toronto was definitely far less adventurous then the way there, but regardless it was nice to have a week to ourselves to relax in Victoria - by the time we got home, thankfully most of the snow was gone! We are nearing the end of our first week back at work and looking forward to a great year of training and racing.
The Island Race Series kicks off this weekend with the Prairie Inn Pioneer 8km race. This series includes 8 races between now and April of distances from 5km to Half Marathon (21km). Matt and I are signed up for all 8 and are hopeful that we'll be able to compete in the majority of them.
Swimming is also going really well and at the end of the month we'll be heading up to Comox for a training weekend with the Navy Masters coach we train with three times a week. We're also looking forward to competing in a few more swim meets in February and March to sharpen our skills!
Of course, we are also anxiously awaiting the start of the Triathlon season which kicks off on May 10th with the Sooke Spring Sprint Triathlon. In the meantime, we've been keeping busy on our bike trainers, running in the rain (and on treadmills when we decide to be wimps) and (of course) in the pool swimming laps.
It was so nice to see everyone in Toronto over the holidays. Both Christmas Eve with the Calderon's and Christmas Day with the Montgomery's were memories that will be truly cherished. We're so sorry we missed the MacMillan's this year but are hoping that our move to Kingston, Ontario in the spring will allow us to see you more often. We're still waiting on the posting message which will be released in March, but so far things are looking good... keep your fingers crossed!
Wishing you all a wonderful year of health and happiness! Amber & Matt
